NEWS --I will have an upcoming feature in the August edition of the extremely nice Turkish publication Fotoritim. Very cool! I am most humbly grateful for their appreciation of my work. FOTORITIM --My exhibit, The Unapologetic Landscape, begins its 18-month tour around
North Dakota with an opening on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at The
Arts Center in Jamestown, ND. The schedule is, as follows:
--My work was selected for an Award of Merit in the 2010 B&W Magazine Portfolio Contest. A small portfolio will be published in Special Issue #76 which came out in June, 2010 and should be available in the magazine racks of most large bookstores. --My rain squall photo, which has been quite popular, was accepted into the Mpls. Photo Center juried landscape exhibit. The show runs from April 23 to June 13, 2010. Click for more info --I was the juror for the annual art show for both graduate and undergraduate students at UND. The quality of work by these students is amazing. Especially gratifying was the high quality of the photo entries. The photo program has, until last year, been without a faculty member since something like 2004, and was floundering. Glad to see that the students finally have someone who can teach and inspire them. --I have a portfolio in both the print and DVD versions of the March/April 2010 issue of Lenswork magazine, which is #87. Lenswork is considered by many to be one of the most well-respected photo journals being printed today. As with many specialty magazines, it is no longer sold at bookstores, but can be ordered from the publisher via the following link. It's not an inexpensive magazine, but the quality of both content and reproduction makes it a bargain. http://www.lenswork.com/vn.htm
--update on the Lenswork feature. I just got an early copy and can say with all honesty that it looks amazing. I'm blown away. --My exhibit at the North Dakota Museum of Art, entitled The Unapologetic Landscape, ran for three months (June 30-Sept. 30, 2009) to very favorable reviews. Despite the exhibit's completion, it still lives. Beginning in August, 2010, the show, with slight alterations, will travel to 10 galleries and art museums across North Dakota. A preliminary list of cities includes Fargo, Minot, Bismarck, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Williston, Cando and Jamestown. I will post a detailed schedule later this spring. --I have been invited to participate in a group exhibition scheduled for summer 2010 called Triple Exposure, which will include such internationally noted landscape photographers as Bruce Barnbaum, Don Kirby, and Tillman Crane as well as central North Dakota large-format landscape photographer, Dan Smith, among others.
